TNI Welcomes New Sponsored Child

Nov 4th, 2011

Peachland, BC - World Vision is a Christian relief, development and advocacy organization dedicated to working with children, families, and communities to overcome poverty and injustice.  TNI Employees have been supporting a World Vision child through the Employee Giving Fund (EGF) for almost 7 years, and are excited to welcome our newest sponsored child, Donald Jose Reyes Oporta.

Donald lives in Quizaltepe, a rural area of Nicaragua.  Donald is a 7 year old boy in the 1st grade at school whose favourite subject is Spanish.  His father is employed but does not make enough money to support the family and his mother stays at home to care for the family.  TNI’s sponsorship of Donald will help World Vision in providing Donald and his community with  the essentials that they need to become self sufficient.

Self sufficiency was recently achieved in the community of Tacuba, El Salvador, the home of TNI’s previous sponsored child, Nery Adalberto Gomez.  We are very proud to know that our support of Nery and his community has contributed to such a happy ending.  TNI Employees wish Nery and his family the best of luck, and look forward to seeing Donald and his community achieve the same success through World Vision.

TNI Donates Big to a Canadian Legacy

Sep 20th, 2011

Peachland, BC- Terry Fox’s journey across Canada is an important event in Canadian history which signifies cancer awareness and finding a cure for cancer.  In light of the annual Terry Fox Run, TNI has donated $2,500 to the Terry Fox Foundation.

“The partners of TNI were happy to make this donation to support the Terry Fox Foundation.  Terry’s courage inspired a nation, and although his journey ended prematurely, the search for the cure to this deadly disease continues, a disease which affects so many each day, including loved ones of myself and my partners,” said Steve Allison, President of TNI.

In 1980, Terry Fox began his 143 day marathon across Canada to raise awareness towards Cancer, which he was never able to complete. The Terry Fox Run began as a movement to continue the journey that Terry Fox could not finish.  Every fall Canadian communities and schools raise funds that go towards cancer research and awareness.

TNI, with a head office of over 85 employees and hundreds of employees across Canada, holds a strong philosophy of supporting community events and organizations, like the Terry Fox Foundation, who works towards finding a cure for cancer.

TNI Goes Batty for Bats and sponsors the Adopt a Bat program

Feb 24th, 2011

Peachland, BC- In the spirit of community development and support of the education on bats, TNI The Network Inc., has come on board as the Gold Sponsor of the Adopt a Bat Program, a commitment of $2,500."

The Adopt a Bat program initially started when the Peachland Chamber of Commerce decided their future home would be at the old school house on Beach Ave. in Peachland, and came across a bat community that had set up a “roost” in the roof of the building.  This started the process of putting the Adopt a Bat program into place and a chance for citizens and visitors of Peachland to learn more about bats.

The plan is for the Bat Station, at the old primary school, to be set-up as an interactive learning centre which will provide tools and live web streaming of the bats flying into and out of their “roost”. The learning centre will boast hands-on electronic tools to aid in learning more about the life of bats. The Chamber has sought out sponsorship to help cover the cost of the camera equipment and the up-keep of the bat community.

TNI is happy to sponsor such a great community program that not only is unique to Peachland, but will play a role in bringing the education of bats to the community, schools and tourists.  To learn more about this program and to see the bats live in their “roost” check out www.peachlandbats.ca.
