Corporate Philanthropy

TNI on a corporate level gives to many charities and causes as well as the non-profit clients we work with. On a local level, we have maintained a strong commitment to the community we live and operate in and we support many community events and organizations. We feel giving back to our community through event sponsorship and donating to local organizations ensures we have a positive impact on our community and gives our employees a rewarding work experience. Here are just a few of the events and causes we are proud to have supported on a national and local level:

  • Royal Canadian Legion
  • Peachland World of Wheels
  • Peachland Wellness Centre
  • Peachland Foodbank
  • Heart & Stroke Foundation
  • Canadian Diabetes Association
  • Dancin’ Barefoot in the Park
  • Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life
  • Brazilian Carnival Ball- Benefitting SickKids Foundation
  • Plan Canada Baseball fundraiser- Rod Black Charity Classic
  • Plan Canada- A Promise Made A Promise Kept Gala
  • MADD Canada National Chapter Leadership Conferences
2010 Employee Giving Fund

On a more personal level, TNI's employees started the Employee Giving Fund in 2004 where funds are collected to assist both local charities and international relief causes. Employees voluntarily give to the fund weekly and make decisions together as to where the funds collected will go. Since 2004, TNI employees have donated over $20,000 with TNI matching these contributions dollar for dollar, and sometimes even more. Some of the local charitable contributions the Employee Giving Fund is the most proud of include:

  • Variety The Children's Charity
  • Peachland Foodbank
  • Peachland Wellness Centre
  • Canadian Cancer Society Kelowna Chapter
  • SPCA

Given the difference that TNI is fortunate to be able to make in the lives of children globally through sponsorship programs, we decided to use a portion of our proceeds collected through the Employee Giving Fund and sponsor 2 children, Nery and Yarixza.

Nery - El Salvador

NeryIn April of 2005, TNI employees began sponsoring Nery Adalberto Gomez of El Salvador through World Vision Canada.

A fourteen-year-old boy, Nery attends school and helps his family with chores. His father works but doesn’t make enough money to fully support his family. Despite this, Nery’s mother must stay home to help look after their family. With the help of their Community Development Program, Nery and his family will learn new ways to manage their lives. As part of this program, Nery and his family receive clean water, nutritious food, health care, education, and many other opportunities that would otherwise remain unavailable.

In May of 2005, TNI’s President Steve Allison, and Jennifer Lecompte, Vice President of Marketing made the trip down to El Salvador with TNI client World Vision. The trip allowed them to actually meet Nery and his family; an opportunity rarely available to child sponsors. Not only did the five day trip prove to be an eye opener, but through their eyes, the rest of us got to see what a difference we are making on a daily basis as the TNI Team. Together with our Agency Owners, managers and reps we are truly making a difference!

Yarixza - Peru

Yarixza

Through the TNI Employee Giving Fund, TNI's employees have sponsored a child in Peru, Yarixza Bravo, through Plan Canada. Yarixza is a 14 year old girl who lives in a small community, Los Cedros, with her mother, father, brother and 2 sisters. Yarixza is currently attending primary school which is located 45 mins away from her community. Yarixza's community is made of a mix of people who moved from the highlands to Los Cedros, in search of a better life. This has been a hard process as Los Cedros is a new community that has had to fight to obtain access to clean drinking water and road access. Yarixza and her family live in a house made of wood with a metal roof, like most houses in the community.

Many girls Yarixza's age become mothers and drop out of school before the age of 16 and often do not receive proper education or life skills needed to build a better life. The people in Yarixza's community are working hard to ensure their children have access to proper education and do not fall into the harsh realities of drugs and gangs that have plagued many small communities like Los Cedros.

Through TNI's sponsorship, we hope to help in ensuring a better life for Yarixza, her family and her community. In November of 2009 TNI visited Yarixza and her family and were able to meet her and her family and see how their sponsorship has helped Yarixza, her family and the community she lives in.

The Employees at TNI should be proud of the difference their contributions they have made through the Employee Giving Fund to our sponsored children.
